The Hauntings: Surveillance
A downloadable game for Windows
"Welcome to the Directive Seven Bravo surveillance team. There's an office that's been experiencing paranormal events. Your task is to scan through various cameras set up throughout the building and document as many activities as possible. Be warned: this assignment is of high importance and If you miss too many activities, or report improper activities, you will be fired."
'The Hauntings: Surveillance' was made by Warka Development as a 48 hour game development challenge live on Twitch. The goal was to recreate the "I'm on observation duty" game as quickly as possible.
- 5 Strikes and fail
- Stream safe
- Does contain jumpscares
- Simple click controls (Can also use A/D to cycle cameras)

I enjoyed this game more than I'm On Observation Duty ^^ Thank you for this, I had fun! I played it several times. I'm excited for your other upcoming game too! Any date set? :)
There isn't a date set yet, but going into testing here soon...so there is some light at the end of the tunnel! Glad you enjoyed HS!
This is one of the best I've played :) I can't believe the devs did such an amazing job in such a short time. Hours of fun and scares! First game of the video.
I haven't personally played I'm on Observation Duty but I have played a similar game called I'm the Caretaker, so my experience comes from that game.
Just in case you watch my playthrough, I want to preface all this by saying that I had no idea this was made in 48 hours lol.
As far as the spot the difference aspect, I think it's great! It's other spots in the game that give me issue. First of all, I think the strike system needs to go away completely. It's already punishing enough having to waste time guessing at a wrong report, the strike system is just excessively punishing.
The strike system wouldn't be as bad if the reporting system was more lenient. I had multiple failures simply because I didn't properly report anomalies because I had no idea what they were classified as. And a few of them were very obvious anomalies so it doesn't feel fair to fail because I don't know what something is classified as. Just let me take my wasted time punishment instead.
Second, this is hardly as relevant given the time frame the game was made in. But there were a few situations where there was a flicker of light or something similar that I'm pretty sure were just visual bugs, but stuff like that in this type of game can be really confusing when you're specifically looking for things that are off.
Lastly, the only truly infuriating thing about the game was the way the cursor controlled. Maybe it was the way it ramped up combined with the sensitivity but it was very tough to click the tiny boxes for reporting anomalies. I'm pretty sure not being able to click the box actually led to me failing once. Basically, it just felt really bad using the cursor.
Sorry for going in so hard on the game, like I said, everything else about it is great! Especially given that it was only made in 48 hours. I only give so much criticism because I find these games to be a ton of fun. Even with the issues listed, I had a great time playing the game. Thanks for making it!
Hello! Glad you enjoyed the game even if it was a bit rough...The idea of this game was the 48 hour challenge but its has received enough praise that i might convert it into a full on game using levels from my main project....so feedback like this is perfect as i can use that while developing the rest of it after my main project is completed.
I'd love to play a full game version of this! I'll definitely be looking out for it. Good luck!
Can I ask for the graphics settings? Because I played it and it was very laggy for me. My computer can handle it but it just too laggy to play so yeah. Also, very good IOOD fangame.
Or maybe allow the player to use their default cursor because the game cursor is laggy for me due to the game being laggy.
I was looking into some graphics settings but that will take a bit longer to add as this game is fully reliant on dynamic lighting in unreal engine 5 which if you lower the settings will cause the whole level to go almost black...This is on my "To-do" list but not sure when I will get to it as this game was meant to be a development challenge and a demo of what the full game would be...I also have 2 other game dev projects at the moment so to say I am super busy is an understatement lol
Oh ok
The game took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to beat, you did an amazing job with the difficulty and with the anomalies too.I found a few bugs on my playthrough which where fatal when you were in a rush, like sometime when the ghost appear, if it didn't play the jumpscare sound effect in the room that the ghost was in, if you reported the room in which the ghost model was, it would count as a fake report and you needed to go to the room where the sound effect played, and there was another with the lights, in which one room became kinda dark, but another room was completely dark because that was the actual room with the anomaly and like each room where close to each other, you will see the dark effect in both and it would confuse me making me do a fake report because I didn't knew which room to report. There is some optimization issues but after all, I did have a blast playing this and I would play it again if all mentioned was fix. You did an amazing job, hope to see more from you.Update #1: The ghost bug was fixed, and the light anomaly was actually in the same room, because there where two cameras in the room and I didn't knew.
This game is awesome! This game is a little hard for the first map. I think you should add more maps, when people get uses to the first map! :)
